3D Playground Testnet is Coming

A call to the entire Dymension community: it’s time to prepare for a new era, as we bid farewell to Froopyland, our old testnet, and welcome the new testnet: 3D Playground.

Testnet Phases

The 3D Playground testnet takes on the vital role of preparing both the community and the core dev team for the upcoming 3D upgrade and will unfold in three distinct phases that will each introduce new features and enhancements:

  1. Phase 1: Deploy RollApps as Easily as Tokens: Experimentation with the brand new, seamless, and fast method of deploying permissionless RollApps.
  2. Phase 2: [REDACTED] — stay tuned
  3. Phase 3: This phase will introduce the Dymension Name Service, aka DymNS along with additional features that need to be tested before the mainnet upgrade.

Deploy RollApps as Easily as Tokens

Playground Activities

Whether you’re a skilled app developer or a newcomer, a left-curve user or a right-curve technical operator, the Playground offers a role for every part of the community.

Users

  • Use a simple UI to launch your own Playground RollApp
  • Engage with other Playground RollApps
  • Endorse Playground RollApps with your vote

Once 3D upgrade is live on mainnet, DYM will be distributed through Endoresments to top performing Playground RollApp creators throughout a period of 3 months. Got selected? Deploy on mainnet to access reward flow!

Node Operators

Use an updated Roller, a simple CLI tool to:

  • Run the sequencer for a Playground RollApp
  • Run the relayer for a Playground RollApp
  • Run the eIBC client for a Playground RollApp

Validators (active or inactive) who successfully operate Playground RollApps will share a pool of 10M mainnet delegations for a period of 3 months.

Delegation distribution will be based on:

  1. Uptime and general health of provided infrastructure
  2. Performance of RollApp, so make sure to choose RollApps correctly!

RollApp Performance

Playground RollApps performance will be measured based on the quality of the application on the RollApp and other metrics such as:

  • Token liquidity: Measures the amount of DYM tokens in a RollApp liquidity pool
  • Bond: Measures the amount of DYM tokens bonded by sequencers for the RollApp ID.
  • TVL: Measures the total value of the following whitelisted assets bridged to the RollApp
  • eIBC volume: Measures the 7-day rolling average of eIBC volume (i.e., value of orders fulfilled)
  • Infrastructure health: Provided by Node Operators, so make sure to choose a worthy node operator!

Next steps

Dymension 3D is set to unlock new capabilities for users and allow anyone to build a ‘website’ on the Internet of RollApps. Stay tuned for further announcements coming in the near future regarding the launch.
